How Dare You NFL? How Dare You?

The witty Don Drapers are now writing the NFL 'It's Almost Monday Night' commercials that promise a salvation to the most horrible work day of the week. However, just as Wrangler decided to pull their Brett Favre advertisement the same time there were reports that he was texting his little jet, the NFL should pull their clever Monday Night commercials when they are putting an inferior product on television. I am of course speaking of the total debacle of a so called NFL football game where the Arizona Cardinals were embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers. In actuality the Arizona Cardinals just embarrassed themselves. I am growing more and more less interested in the NFL this year than I have ever been before in the past. Don’t get me wrong I love football and it will forever be my sport of choice but whereas in the past I could watch almost any game regardless if it was my favorite team or even if it had no fantasy football relevance to me. There seems to be more and more teams this year than appear to be indifferent to whether they win or lose or whether they are putting a product that justifies the income that this sport produces. The incentives in contracts should stay if a player plays well and a transition from salary to commission based pay when the player just shows no sign of inspired play. Talk about needing to protect the shield.

This uninspired play can be linked to the question of how to solve the debate of the eighteen game schedule. It’s time to get rid of some of these franchises. There are clearly too many players in the NFL. When you don’t play every game with the passion of the Tom Brady’s, Ray Lewis’, troy polamalu’s, Heinz Ward’s, and a handful of others then being an NFL player has lost some of its shine. Break some of these franchises up and stop creating millionaires that have lost their passion as each square foot of their houses increase.
